Topological superconductivity in tripartite superconductor-ferromagnet-semiconductor nanowires

Motivated by recent experiments searching for Majorana zero modes in tripartite semiconductor nanowires with epitaxial superconductor and ferromagnetic-insulator layers, we explore the emergence of topological superconductivity such devices paradigmatic arrangements three constituents. Accounting competition between magnetism superconductivity, treat self consistently describe electronic properties, including superconducting ferromagnetic proximity effects, within a direct wave-function approach. We conclude that most viable mechanism relies on superconductor-semiconductor-ferromagnet arrangement constituents, which spin splitting are independently induced is only weakly affected insulator.
